Pirates Beach & Pirates Beach West

Pirates Beach & Pirates Beach West were developed by the late oilman, George Mitchell, a visionary pioneer in West Galveston real estate during the early days of planned communities. These West End neighborhoods are on the beach side of FM 3005, between 12 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road. With 700-plus single-family households – (and with homesites still available), they are large enough to have important community resources like a fire/EMS station, groceries, restaurants, churches and a bank, all in a vacation-like atmosphere. The members-only Galveston Country Club offers golf, tennis, swimming and dining nearby, and other nearby popular amenities include a well-maintained beach, Galveston Coastal Heritage Preserve, Galveston Island State Park and Lafitte’s Nature Preserve. Sand `N Sea’s office is located here, too (you never know when you’ll need a good REALTOR®!) Some houses, especially those in Pirates Beach West, are among the most spectacular West Galveston beach houses for sale today. Typical homes, however, are more modest 1,800-square-foot properties on quarter-acre or smaller lots. About half have been built since the mid-1900s, though the earliest homes in these Galveston neighborhoods date to 1971. Some sections of both Pirates Beach and Pirates Beach West require maintaining a social membership at the Galveston Country Club. Check with your REALTOR®. Vacation rentals are permitted. Sales prices in Pirates Beach and Pirates Beach West generally range from the $200,000s to 2 million dollars.
