Winter on Galveston Island

Are we right?!? As “Snowmageddon” is getting ready to turn the East Coast into a big pile of snow, we can’t help but rejoice as we grab our pullover, throw on our flip flops (because, seriously, they are an all-year wardrobe piece – no matter what our mother says) and be SO happy we get to call this Gulf Coast island home!

It’s Festival Season on Galveston!

It’s Fall!! Don’t get us wrong – we love summers on the island. However, if pressed, we might admit to loving October/November even more (shhhhh!). There’s something about a steady forecast of 80 – 90 degrees with a cool breeze, endless blue skies, and the less-busy beaches that really speaks to us. Plus, it seems like there’s a festival (and festival food!) almost every weekend!

Galveston’s Beach Nourishment Going Strong

We can’t get enough of this awesome project! There’s a huge expanse of brand new beach already open to the public, and work is continuing westward along Seawall Blvd. Here’s a progress picture from September 17:

We get to see the progress every morning on our way to the office, but if you aren’t lucky enough to be heading to a Sand `N Sea vacation home soon you can always watch the progress live on the SandCam!
