This property is in SERIOUS need of some maintenance. One of the decks is inaccessible because the door will not open. The remaining decks are hazardous due to the wood splintering and the nails popping up so badly and the gate on the main deck no is no longer operable so cannot open/close. The owner leaves their boat trailer downstairs so the access to the outdoor shower is very limited and the downstairs porch area is cut in half because of the trailer. As another reviewer mentioned, there is no cable on any other tv but the main room. If you want to keep your kids entertained you will need to bring movies and games from home. The beach was beautiful and well maintained but the crossover to get there only goes half way so you will need to walk the rest on a makeshift “boardwalk” through very overgrown vegetation. After being warned about rattlesnakes by Sand n Sea, I was very concerned about lack of safety in accessing the beach. All in all, for the amount of money we spent, I am very disappointed in this property and in the current condition I can not recommend it to anyone else nor will I stay here again.- Art & Kathi L , Posted: 08/04/2018
We were so sorry to hear that you didn't fully enjoy your stay at Surf Shack. Our Property Services team is working with the homeowner to address the issues with nails on the deck (a hazard of the humidity here on the coast). Rattlesnakes, shore birds, rabbits and more call the dunes home, and we do take care to make sure our guests are aware of the wildlife here on the West End. We are sorry that concern detracted from your stay.
