Driftwood

Driftwood is an enclave of 1960s-era suburban homes hugging the south shore of Offatts Bayou. A number of newer, upscale homes rise on the waterfront, and moderately priced residences line winding streets and cul-de-sacs off the water. The grade was raised on most lots when the area was transformed from a collection of weekend cabins into a valuable addition to the Galveston real estate market. Few neighborhoods with houses for sale in Galveston offer Driftwood’s combination of a desirable family-friendly area with primarily single-family homes, an elementary school within walking distance, and shopping, restaurants and recreation nearby – including Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn and the Galveston Boat Club (an affordable members-only boating, fishing and swimming spot). There is minimal through traffic on the streets of this Galveston neighborhood, though residents have ready access to the Seawall and I-45 via 61st Street. Sales prices in Driftwood generally range from the $150,000s to 1 million dollars.
