Sands of Kahala
Sands of Kahala Beach is a single row of larger beachfront properties lining the Gulf side of FM 3005.
The 14 houses in the Sands of Kahala Beach are primarily traditional in appearance, most with an abundance of porches and decks. They range in size from about 2,300 to nearly 4,000 square feet, making them well suited for large families and vacation rentals – with 4-7 bedrooms and 3-4 bathrooms, for example (vacation rentals are permitted). Lot sizes are generally half an acre, and some properties have room to park several vehicles.
The developers began building West Galveston beach houses at the Sands of Kahala Beach in 1997; most homes were built before 2012.
Many of the Island’s charms are within a short drive: Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn are about 5 miles away, and numerous bird and wildlife sanctuaries are nearby as well – including Galveston Island State Park just 4 miles to the west.
Several listings of beach houses in Galveston include “Kahala” in their name. Of these, Sands of Kahala Beach is the closest to 61st Street, just 2 miles west of the end of the Seawall.
Buyers shopping for Galveston beach houses for sale will find properties at Sands of Kahala Beach typically costing from the $700,000s to $1 million.
