For over 15 years, Sand `N Sea has been compiling this helpful data that benefits all of Galveston. We are the only local real estate firm who sifts through the piles of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to assemble this valuable information — it’s just one more reason we’re proud to be your coastal real estate experts on everything from beachfront houses, condos for sale, historic Galveston properties, and more.

About Galveston Real Estate Statistics

Every year, Sand `N Sea assembles and releases a Galveston real estate market outlook that applies to the Island as a whole, as well as specific areas and neighborhoods. The preparation that goes into this comprehensive report is extensive. It starts with extracting real estate statistics from the Houston Association of Realtors and assembling the data into spreadsheets, carefully verifying all facts and statistics, and then organizing it all with a sharp attention to detail. Our Annual Statistics report, published each January, looks back on Galveston real estate performance for the entire year and compares it to the previous year.

Each statistics report details the following real estate market information:

  • Dollar volume and number of transactions for all of Galveston and surrounding areas,
  • Percentage of change, by both dollar volume and number of transactions,
  • Galveston Island recap of market activity, including average days on the market and median sales price.

The Galveston Daily News publishes each of these reports, along with a Sand `N Sea REALTOR® interview to explain in greater depth what’s behind current market conditions. Additionally, we get the word out by mailing customized postcards to Galveston property owners, featuring the statistics in our real estate sales newsletters, and posting the information to our website. We are pleased to be the only real estate firm on Galveston Island that compiles historical data on the local real estate market. We keep an archive of real estate statistics covering Galveston Island — both Island-wide and West Galveston only. Our residential sales reports track the dollar volume and number of sold transactions, along with the percent change compared to the previous year. We collect this data twice a year, during the first six months, as well as at the end of the year. 

How Can You Use the Galveston Real Estate Market Report?

Nearly everyone who lives or works on the Island can benefit from this real estate statistics report. Here’s how:

  • Property owners can use the information to decide if and when to sell or rent out their homes. In addition, it’s helpful to know the real estate trends for both their market area and Galveston Island as a whole.
